At Friends of Cape Child, we offer targeted support for small childrens' charities in disadvantaged communities including food and accommodation assistance, educational support, and healthcare services. When funds allow a treat such as a trip to the beach or soft play is a much appreciated bonus! Our assistance is designed to meet the unique needs of each beneficiary we serve.
All donations are 100% used to fund our projects' needs. Thank you for your generous support.
For some 24 years we have benefitted small children's charities In South Africa, predominantly in the Western Cape. Charities in desperate need of funding to achieve provision of a safe and nurturing family environment with emphasis on education, structure, kindness and strong family values to help these children be best equipped to grow up having experienced an environment which may not have been available to them given their circumstances.
At Friends of Cape Child, we believe in a holistic approach to helping children in need. We aim to provide funding to small charities who provide them with basic needs, education, healthcare, and emotional support. We work closely with these beneficiary charities to understand their needs and create sustainable solutions.
Since 2000 we have helped to benefit a number of child welfare focussed charities (we have been a registered UK Charity since 2017).
Our first beneficiary was 'Ikhayalethemba', at the time 'Mama Lumka's Home of Hope' near Somerset West, we managed to help her achieve NGO status and sustainable funding for her work.
Subsequent beneficiaries include a small home for abandoned newborn babies on the Cape Flats, a safe house for young boys in Zeerust, NW Province, Emasthandane Children's Project in Nyanga and for the last 8 years our main beneficiary charity has been the wonderful Hazel's Centre for Hope in Mitchell's Plain.
We are delighted that a number of the children who have benefitted from these projects are now in or have graduated from University in South Africa and are living life to their great potential. Others are able to thrive despite having come from homes where they had been orphaned, in abusive environments or with challenging health conditions such as living with HIV and Down's Syndrome.
Help us put some more smiles on these childrens' faces!
If we may claim UK Gift Aid on your donation please do let us know, many thanks
